Black Women in Fiber: Homage

Homage is a tribute to the beauty of black women, their lineage, their ancestors, their lifeline, and their growing legacies. This collection of black and white photographs are created for its viewer to look deep down and experience freedom and sacredness.

What is Black Women in Fiber?

Black Women in Fiber - black womanist visuals celebrations between fiber art, artist, human, and spirit.

Black Woman in Fiber is a sacred and intimate calling and connection between a black woman’s skin and spirit. Each piece of fiber is made carefully and designed by the guides of the ancestors of Linnea Poole. The fiber visuals are worn and designed in forms of Habatai silks, indigo dyes, and colorful raw tulle. Each black woman that is photographed is not told or is placed into any particular poses, they are all told to react to the fiber and their actions are captured through the lens.

Artist Statement:

My work is my earth and my being. My passion intertwines between Performance Art, Fiber Manipulation, Photo Documentary, and Community Activism. My inspiration stems from the mixture of colors that bring life to the communities I serve. My work speaks volumes with a stench of Avant Garde that forms the creation on my own indigo planet. The pillar of my work is dedicated to my ancestors, black women, and human stars of light.
