Lotachukwu (Lota) Ebube
Artist Bio:
Lota Ebube is from Jessup, Maryland. Inspired by picture books, cartoons, and video games, Lota has pursued illustration as a passion since childhood. Since then, Lota has been creating cartoon styled and photorealistic drawings and portraits. After experimenting with various mediums, he now works primarily in Graphite, Charcoal, and Acrylics.
Artist Statement:
My approach to making art is quite unique. I don’t like creating simple, mundane pieces that you’d see on the walls of a fancy hotel. I’d rather create pieces that capture the eyes and cultivate the heart. My artistic process usually starts with inspiration from everyday life and social media. That inspiration usually turns into sketches in my sketchbook, and if well planned out, it blossoms into an inspiring piece of art to all who view it.
I work in a variety of mediums—graphite pencil, oil and acrylic paints, and charcoal. Whether I’m creating a still life, a portrait, or capturing scenery, my art consistently attempts to befriend photorealism through the proper use of the elements of art and the principles of design. I make my artwork because of my intense passion to inspire others. Many people have created incredible artworks that have inspired me to create, so not only do I feel obligated, but I feel a great sense of gratification knowing that my hard work has the potential to positively impact and inspire the next generation of artists.
